Felicity Jones was already rumoured to star in the first ever “Star Wars” spin-off film even before it was officially given its title, “Rogue One.” The actress has been mum on her role in the movie ever since her casting was officially announced. However, she recently expressed her excitement to be a part of the much-anticipated sci-fi franchise.

Felicity Jones declined to reveal details about her role in “Star Wars: Rogue One” during an interview with The Associated Press, preferring to say that she “can’t talk about it.” Jones, who starred in “The Theory of Everything” opposite Oscar winner Eddie Redmayne, said she’s trying to find different ways not to talk about her character in the film. But she also assured fans that the spin-off will be “really really exciting.”

Felicity Jones is reportedly up for the lead role in “Star Wars: Rogue One,” although details such as her character’s name are still unknown at this point. The spin-off was reportedly recently confirmed by Disney’s Bob Iger during a shareholder’s meeting held earlier this month in San Francisco. However, despite the recent announcement, movie director Gareth Edwards is expected to start filming this summer in London in preparation for the film’s release on Dec. 16, 2016. According to Screen Rant, a script is already in place and is currently being revised by Chris Weitz.

There have been speculations of Harrison Ford’s Han Solo joining Felicity Jones in “Star Wars: Rogue One.” Bobba Fett will reportedly also make a comeback appearance. Having “Rogue One” as the film’s subtitle supposedly suggests the spin-off could be about the origins of the Rogue Squadron, who, according to writer Rob Keyes, are “the Rebel Alliance’s elite pilots who take on the most dangerous and important of missions against the Empire.” Rumours also have it that the spin-off story revolves around the plot to steal the Death Star plans.

However, details have yet to be revealed regarding the spin-off movie, and an official synopsis has yet to be released as well. So far, only Felicity Jones has been announced as the official cast of “Star Wars: Rogue One.”
