The plot of a "Star Wars" spin-off movie reportedly directed by Gareth Edwards has leaked online. The upcoming movie will have close links to the first movie released by the franchise in 1977. The report does not mention any of the familiar characters featuring in the movie. [Warning: Spoiler Alert]

The new "Star Wars" movie may be about stealing the plans to the first Death Star constructed by the Empire. According to a report by SlashFilm, the leak comes from a "second hand" source in touch with someone familiar with the developments of the movie. The reports are yet unverified and readers are advised to treat them as rumours at this time.

According to the report, the "Star Wars" spin-off movie will involve a group of bounty hunters hired to steal the plans of the Death Star in order for the Rebel Alliance to mount an attack and destroy the Empire's super weapon.

The stealing of the plans is of great significance in the "Star Wars" movies because the plans end up in the hands of Luke Skywalker and result in his journey to become a Jedi Knight and take on the Empire as part of the Rebel Alliance.

The report does not specify who the bounty hunters featuring in the movie will be. The report does not rule out the possibility of Boba Fett as one of the bounty hunters in the spin-off movie. The report also points out possible inconsistency in the story line if Boba Fett is involved with stealing the plans to the Death Star.

Readers who have watched the original "Star Wars" trilogy will remember that Boba Fett and some other bounty hunters were hired by Darth Vader to track down the Millennium Falcon. The iconic ship will also reportedly feature in the upcoming spin-off movie. But Han Solo is not said to be a part of the upcoming film and the owner of the space ship in the movie remains unknown.

A major character in the spin-off movie will reportedly be introduced in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens." The report speculates the character to be the one played by the actor Max Von Sydow. But the spin off movie may feature a much younger character, given the timeline of the story in the movie.
