Only last month, Meizu MX4 was spotted with a nominal price tag yet the device packed a punch with its killer under-the-hood specifications. However now, Meizu has a high-end variant to offer and it is named "Meizu MX4 Pro." For those unfamiliar, Meizu is one of the top mobile manufacturers in China in the lines of Xiaomi.

If reports are true, along with the high-end Meizu MX4 Pro, a "Mini" variant of the smartphone will also be released. The newly leaked images from Chinese media showcase the superior specifications and features of the Meizu MX4 Pro, according to GSM Arena.

The leaked specifications of the MX4 Pro include a 5.36-inch display, complemented by a whopping 2,560 x 1,536 pixels resolution. The high-end handset will reportedly house a 20.7 MP primary camera unit with LED flash and a killer 13 MP front-facing shooter unit for picture-perfect selfies.

Under the hood, the Meizu MX4 Pro will be powered by a solid octa-core (Samsung Exynos 5430) SoC along with four Cortex-A17 cores clocked at 2.6 GHz and extra four Cortex-A15 cores clocked at 2.1 GHz. In addition, the device will reportedly be backed by a powerful 4 GB of RAM.

In the meantime, GSM Arena has pointed out a major flaw in the leaked details. The recently introduced Samsung Exynos 5430 chip uses a combination of Cortex-A15 and Cortex-A7 cores. Therefore, the Cortex-A17 cores figured in the aforementioned leak might not be the correct configuration. Furthermore, the publication also says that the clock speeds are also not appropriate. Meaning, the recently leaked information is either a misinterpretation/typo of the actual specs or the leak cannot be relied on.

When it comes to memory and connectivity, the Meizu device will come in 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB built-in storage options along with support for Bluetooth v4.0, Wi-Fi and the latest 4G LTE, among others.

In case, interested readers would like to know more about Meizu, here is a list of pointers:

- The inexpensive model of Meizu MX4 is priced at $293.

- Meizu MX4 has a predecessor in MX3; however the handset did not see a global release.

- The base model MX4 scored an impressive 52,811 in AnTuTu benchmark, giving its competitors a run for their money.

- Meizu handsets run on customized Android OS called Flyme OS.

- Notably, the predecessor MX3 is world's first smartphone to offer 128 GB of in-built storage.

Will you opt for Meizu MX4 Pro if the rumoured specifications come true? Will a 4 GB relatively-unknown Meizu phone score more than a 2 GB Sony, HTC or Samsung equivalent in your list? Feel free to leave a comment.
