Derek Huff made path-breaking confessions to expose the Edmonton police.

Mr Huff is a former cop who was known for his immaculate records at service. He said that he made attempts previously to prevent the corruption in the department on an internal level, but he was not allowed to be successful in his attempts.

Mr Huff went public to expose the corruption and brutality in the Edmonton police department. He said that he had stood up for what was right. He is not able to believe the kind of corruption present in the department. He resigned back in February 2013 after being a veteran for 10 years.

Mr Huff described that he, along with his partner, witnessed 3 officers in plain clothes beating one handcuffed man ruthlessly while the handcuffed man was injured. It stunned him, he said. He explained that the officers put their knees on the handcuffed man's back while they kept on kicking and punching him "as hard as they could". Their lethal blows made him scream, he said.

The police officer, however, reported the incident to the authorities. His accusations are presently being investigating. Mr Huff alleges that the reported assault had been kept quiet for quite a while as the incident took place 3 years back.

Mr Huff further added that he could hear the knuckles hitting the handcuffed man's face. He saw many an arrest during his career but such incident had never been seen before, he said.

He accused Constable Jack Redlick to be the chief instigator in the incident. Mr Redlick was a notorious ice hockey player. He was accused of having violent fights during his playing career. Later, the six feet, three inches man joined the Edmonton Police Service. He is now 30 years old.

Those 3 officers were beating Kasimierz Kozina, then 29, according to Mr Huff. Mr Kasimierz was targeted to be a suspected drug dealer by those 3 officers. Mr Huff described Mr Kasimierz to much smaller in size than Mr Redlick. Mr Kasimierz was the victim in the attack which was unprovoked, according to Mr Huff.
