Now that the 2015 Tony Awards nominees are officially out, “American Sniper” star Bradley Cooper can start to celebrate as he received his first Tony nomination for his work in “The Elephant Man.” Cooper joins the long list of this year’s nominees including Elizabeth Moss and Carey Mulligan for their stellar performance in “The Heidi Chronicles” and “Skylight” respectively.

Starring the two-time Academy Award nominee as its lead star, the Broadway revival also stars Patricia Clarkson and Alessando Nivola as they broke the Booth Theatre box-office record. The show is also nominated for Best Revival for Play and is head to head with “Skylight,” “This Is Our Youth” and “You Can’t Take It With You.”

“The Elephant Man tells the story of a 19th-century British man (Cooper) whose severe disfigurement made him a star of the traveling freak show circuit,” according to the show’s synopsis. “When the renowned Dr. Treves (Nivola) takes Merrick under his care and soon all of Victorian high society becomes fascinated by Merrick, especially the beautiful actress Mrs. Kendal (Clarkson). But with his new life comes new complexity… and as Merrick's condition grows more severe, a 'normal' life begins to seem all but impossible."

“The Silver Linings Playbook” actor is nominated for Best Lead Actor for a Play against four other nominees: Steven Boyer in “Hand in God,” Ben Miles in “Wolf Hall,” Billy Nighy in “Skylight” and Alex Sharp in “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time.”

Co-star Alessandro Nivola is also nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Role in a Play. The theatre star is up against Matthew Beard in “Skylight,” K. Todd Freeman in “Airline Highway,” Richard McCabe in “The Audience,” Nathaniel Parker in “Wolf Hall Parts One & Two” and Micah Stock in “It’s Only a Play.”

Meanwhile, Bradley Cooper is heating the Internet new flame Irina Shayk after ending his relationship with “Love, Rosie” star Suki Waterhouse. But it seems that the model is not even sad for ending it with the Hollywood hunk as she was also spotted in L.A. with “X-Men” star James Marsden in a romantic dinner getaway.
