For fans of the “Elder Scrolls” series on Xbox One and PS4, it’s been a long wait for ZeniMax Online's “The Elder Scrolls Online.” A newly release trailer aims to sate gamer’s appetites, at least until the game’s release in June.

The nearly three-minute trailer, hosted on the official Bethesda Softworks YouTube page, focuses on the deep gameplay systems that power freedom and choice for players in Tamriel. Narrated in the style of Rockstar’s now famous “Red Dead Redemption” trailers, the video shows off the expansive world of Tamriel, detailing the journey gamers will take and hinting at the choices that lie in store.

The video promises never ending adventures, unparalleled social experiences and the freedom to tell your own story. Players will start out as a lowly murdered prisoner, known as the vestige, who has been given a second chance at life. The freedom and choice trailer also provides an overview of the ten races and three factions players can choose to be part of, as well as the four class specialisations on offer.

Also promised are hundreds of unique and exciting quests, scattered across all of Tamriel’s 10 massive provinces. Of particular interest to gamers will be the new Justice System, added in “The Elder Scrolls Online” update 6. The Justice system brings the game closer to other titles in the “Elder Scrolls” series, by allowing gamers to take on the roll of an outlaw, earning riches by pilfering goods from unsuspecting non-player-characters and fencing them for profit.

“NPCs have personal inventories and own items found in the world, such as the contents of their homes. If you target an item owned by someone, a red prompt will appear to let you know that picking up that item will be considered a crime, if no one sees you take it, though, it’s all yours with no one the wiser,” reads a post on the official “Elder Scrolls Online” website.

Also on the table is the option to murder and kill NPC’s, also a stable of games in the series. However, the developer warns that though you have the freedom and choice to make these decisions, they will come with consequences. Should your crime be noticed, the bounty on your character increases. There are three levels, including Disreputable, Notorious and Fugitive, which players can acquire, each drawing differing levels of attention and aggression from city guards.

Following an underwhelming launch, “The Elder Scrolls Online” has undergone a mammoth number of improvements. After being released as a buy-to-play title with the “Tamriel Unlimited” update, it’s headed to PS4 and Xbox One on June 9.
