The Parramatta Eels signed Cronulla Sharks full-back Michael Gordon to a one-year deal for the team’s campaign in the 2016 National Rugby Leaguse season.

Sharks officials prevented Gordon from joining Eels in the mid-season last month reports said.

The winger and fullback will join the team on November in their pre-season training.

Gordon quit the Sharks in May after they refused to release to join the Eels as per reports.

“Michael is an experienced player and quality full-back who will bring talent and expertise to our back line, and he deserves an opportunity to play in an NRL side,” Paramatta Eels coach Brad Arthur said.

“Not only is he talented on the field, but his leadership will be valuable for the emerging young players in our squad.”

The 31 year-old Gordon has played for PenrithPanthers and Cronulla Sharks over his 10-year career and played a total of 165 NRL games. He also played representative football for the NSW Blues and Country Origin.

Meanwhile, the Parramatta Eels may wait until the of the 2016 season to appoint a Chief Executive Officer. The Eels appointed chief operating officer John Boulous as acting CEO after the resignation of chief executive Scott Seward.

Paramatta chairman Steve sharp said the club will take its time in assigning the next CEO and the issue will be discussed at a board meeting next week.

Apparently, Boulous, who is the fifth person to sit at Paramatta’s CEO chair in as many years after Paul Osborne, Ken Edwards, Bob Bentley and Seward, is a possible leading candidate for the vacant job and is expected to be in charge until the end of the season.

"It is business as usual at the moment. John Boulous, the COO of the organisation, has stepped up to the CEO's role and we may go forward from there for the rest of the season and then commence a search," Sharp said to reports.

Sharp also added that Seward resigned due to family reasons and does not see the situation to be of too much drama as the West Tigers were also looking for their new chief executive after Monday’s departure of Grant Mayer, who is believed to be interested in the Eels’ CEO job.
