Following up on a recent teaser for a new game mode, EA and developer DICE make good on their promise by revealing new gameplay footage. This time, Squadron Battles have been confirmed in the video that gives “Star Wars Battlefront fans a glimpse of a game mode that was thought to be absent in the upcoming game.

Recently, EA posted a picture on their official Facebook page, giving fans a look at the iconic X-Fighter from the Star Wars series. It also had a caption that read “Prepare for takeoff...,” hinting at the possible inclusion of Squadron Battles on the next Battlefront games. EA then tweeted “We’ve got fighter incoming!,” with a teaser clip for the new Squadron Battle mode below.

The 12-second clip involves a lot of spacecrafts, and one scene where a first-person player view of the cockpit can be seen. Most of the footage shows spacecrafts battling it out in what appears to be the lower atmosphere of planets like Hoth, Tatooine and Endor. However, fans should temper their hopes on space battles, as EA has been firm in telling fans that space battles are not included in “Star Wars Battlefront.”

In previous titles, players can use their enemy unit to ride ships that could infiltrate enemy bases during space battles. This new mode on the other hand, will strictly be about air battles, meaning that soldiers won’t get to face each other in the battlefield. The full reveal for the game mode will come on Wednesday, Aug. 5 at Gamescom.

Prior to all the recent teasers, EA revealed new details regarding a new game mode called Blast Mode. The new mode is a deathmatch that pits two team with 10 players against each other, in a race to get 100 kills. Matches in this mode are played on smaller custom-made maps with slight differences from the larger versions.

The new “Star Wars Battlefront” is set to be released this November on PS4, Xbox One and the PC. With the upcoming Gamescom, fans can expect more news from EA and DICE.
