Among the frontrunners of “Dancing With the Stars” Season 21 are Bindi Irwin, the daughter of the late “The Crocodile Hunter” star Steve Irwin and former Backstreet Boys member Nick Carter. Apparently, Bindi did not dance well immediately when she joined the competition, according to her dance partner Derek Hough.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Hough said Bindi could not dance when they first met. This is why for him, it awesome to see the Australian teenager “evolve,” “be aware of her body” and have “this confidence.”

“Even her posture is different,” Hough said of Bindi. Apparently, it did not take long before Bindi learned to dance well.

One of the most unforgettable dance performances of Hough and Bindi was their rumba with “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life,” the finale song of the 1987 film “Dirty Dancing” as their musical background. Hough considers it as one of her favourite “DWTS” moments of all time although he was not sure if he and Bindi were going to pull it off.

For Hough, dancing rumba set to “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life” with Bindi was “such an iconic moment in dance” and he is close to some people in “Dirty Dancing.” He described their dance “an amazing moment” despite the pressure.

Julianne Hough also recently revealed who she thinks will win “DWTS” Season 21 and take home the Mirrorball trophy . The sister of Bindi’s partner told ABC News on Nov. 19, Thursday, that her frontrunner “would probably be” Irwin or Carter, who is Sharna Burgess’s partner.

According to Julianne, “DWTS” Season 21 is “ probably one of the tightest competitions” she has seen in the history of the show. Bindi and Carter’s remaining contenders are singer and actor Carlos PenaVega, who is partnered with Witney Carson, and Legion of Honour recipient and soldier Alek Skarlatos, who is partnered with Lindsay Arnold.
