The Galaxy Note 5 on release date will have a dual-edge twin and Samsung fans can thank the Galaxy S6 Edge for this. A new report is saying that the curvy S6 Edge proved a hot item, likely prodding Samsung to replicate the feat.

The S6 Edge success was unexpected but a welcome development for Samsung, according to Bloomberg. One solid indicator of this, the publication added, is the ramped up production of dual-edge display panel. The South Korean tech giant is reportedly gunning to produce up to five million units of the panel in a month.

Apparently, the move is in anticipation of the heavier demand for the S6 Edge in the months to come. But business logic also dictates that the dual-edge panel could become a standard in the Galaxy flagship smartphone line up. To this, the likelihood of a Galaxy Note 5 Edge rollout later this 2015 is approaching the confirmation phase.

Why build the Note 5 Edge?

The writings on the wall are clear: Consumers crave for the Edge variant and many reviewers have been telling Samsung that the S6 Edge should have been the Galaxy 2015 flagship. It does everything that the regular can do and more – it is stunningly sexier.

In a report, Android Pit made a bold suggestion to Samsung. Why not ditch the usual template for its 2015 phablet flagship and go edgy this time? The company has found a sure-fire winner in the Galaxy S6 Edge so it would be a blockbuster to unbox instead the Galaxy Note 5 Edge and make it easier for consumers.

In doing so, the Galaxy maker is merely repeating history, and a good one at that. Back in 2011, Samsung introduced the oversized Galaxy Note and critics immediately shot down the effort. But smartphone buyers reacted differently – they loved the hybrid gadget and the first phablet was born.

With the S6 Edge and the Note 5 Edge, it will be 2011 all over again, a BGR report suggested. In effect, Samsung scored an industry coup anew with the S6 Edge and the company will sustain that by offering the bigger, better and perhaps sexier Note 5 Edge.

And Samsung fittingly deserves the credit in again redefining the smartphone market, BGR noted. “Samsung really worked hard to refine its designs for curved displays and came up with an extremely stylish and attractive device in the S6 edge,” the report added.

The same can be expected of the Galaxy Note 5, more so it its Note 5 Edge sibling. The devices are likely set for an October 2015 release date or a few weeks after their grand introduction via the IFA Berlin trade show in September.
