Setting aside the hullaballoo surrounding the high-end Motorola Shamu/Nexus 6/Nexus X smartphone, we now have information on the mid-range DROID Turbo, also widely referred as Moto X Play. Apparently, the DROID Turbo or Moto X Play has cleared FCC in the U.S.

Owing to the unprecedented leaks, Motorola has devised a plan to counter this by sending the devices for FCC clearance roughly two days prior to the launch date. At this point, the DROID Turbo has passed FCC clearance and hence the expectation around the official announcement is quite rife. The model number that cleared FCC is XT1254. Also, this is the exact number leaked earlier pointing to the existence of a DROID Turbo device, according to Phone Arena.

Based on the available information, the Turbo handset will reportedly support LTE Bands 2, 4, 5 and 17. In addition, it will also support GSM and WCDMA bands of 850 MHz, 1700 MHz and 1900 MHz. Interestingly, the GSM bands correspond to AT&T and T-Mobile. However, the DROID Turbo is supposed to be a Verizon-exclusive smartphone. This brings us back to Moto X Play. If reports are true, a potential variant of the DROID Turbo will be released by AT&T under the name Moto X Play. To corroborate the claim, the Moto X Play's dimensions match the DROID Turbo's.

As far as the specification goes, the DROID TURBO will feature a whopping, phablet-like 5.5-inch QHD display. Other key features include support for Bluetooth v4.0, NFC, Wi-Fi, Motorola Turbo Charger and wireless charging capabilities, reports Droid Life.

Coming to the Motorola DROID Mini, the handset will be powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor. The device will be backed by 3 GB of RAM and will run on Android 4.4.4 OS straight out of the box. The upcoming Mini handset will reportedly be equipped to provide similar performance and features, barring the obvious size difference of the bigger Turbo. The unique selling point is the high-grade DuPont Kevlar shell covering the device. Additionally, the display will be protected by Corning Gorilla Glass, says VCPost.

Furthermore, Motorola will offer 50 GB of cloud storage space in Google Drive for two years, upon purchasing the device. With the comparison between the DROID Mini and DROID Turbo becoming inevitable, the compact device is also expected to boast the same 20 MP rear-facing camera unit and a 2 MP secondary shooter. It is worth mentioning that, the current-generation DROID Mini version sports a 10 MP primary camera unit.
