"Doctor Strange" is still two years away from its scheduled U.S. release, yet ahead of its premiere the internet is already buzzing with news about the movie's plot details. According to reports, the movie adaption will be adapted from the comicbook story of "Doctor Strange: Into Shamballa."

According to Cinemablend, movie director Scott Derrickson could have indirectly revealed the plot for "Doctor Strange." He recently posted a photo on Twitter that hinted where his movie would be heading in terms of storyline. The site posted the caption-less photo, which was reportedly taken from another Doctor Strange comicbook titled "Into Shamballa."

Previous reports claimed the movie will not follow the plot details of its comicbook source. Badass Digest's Devin Faraci once said that Marvel doesn't want to use origin stories in their movies. According to Comicbookmovie, the writer appeared on Meet the Movie Press where he revealed that the 2010 script for "Doctor Strange, " where Baron Mordo was believed to be the main villain, is now scrapped.

"That's all gone. Marvel's new thing is no more origin stories. So, Dr. Strange movie no longer has an origin," Faraci said. (See video below at the 52:00 time mark.)

Thus, Cinemablend supposed "Doctor Strange: Into Shamballa" could be the middle ground for the new "origin story" of the film. As Faraci said, scriptwriter Jon Spaihts will be working on a totally new script without even "touching the previous script," so it's believed "Into Shamballa" could be used as the perfect means of telling the story of Marvel's Sorcerer Supreme. It would immediately focus on how Dr. Stephen Strange learned magic.

"Doctor Strange: Into Shamballa" is a graphic novel published in 1986 and written by J.M. DeMatteis and Dan Green. Its story starts with Dr. Stephen Strange visiting the home of the Ancient One in the Himalayas. There he learns the ways of magic. Twenty years later, he discovers that his former master has gifted him with a mystical item. He takes the item home to study it and realises it is a gateway to communicate with higher beings known as the Lords of Shamballa.

However, there's still no confirmation whether "Doctor Strange: Into Shamballa" will really be used as origin story. This is reportedly not the first time Scott Derrickson has tweeted some images from other Doctor Strange comics, so it's believed the director could still be in the research process for the movie's plot.
