Fans of Bungie's upcoming "Destiny 2" may only have to wait until Sept. 8 for the game's release. This is according to two new images that have surfaced on the Internet.

The images appear to be an Italian poster of the game. Both images contain three Guardians beside the logo of "Destiny 2." These Guardians are the playable characters in Bungie's "Destiny" game, and are in charge of protecting the Earth from extraterrestrial threats. However, Twitter user @Alcoholikaust also said text on one corner of the poster said PlayStation 4 users may get access to a beta version earlier than other consoles.

Unfortunately, Bungie has yet to confirm these sets of information. This means players and fans of the franchise are advised to treat these as rumours for now.

According to Polygon, the details in the poster are so far the closest gamers could get to an actual release window. This is because the last official Bungie update for "Destiny 2" has come from an earning calls in February, which revealed a "fall 2017" release.

One of these images appeared on the Italian website Lega, while the other was posted on Imgur by an anonymous source. Twitter user @Alcoholikaust compiled the two images in a tweet.

Unfortunately, not much is known about the upcoming title. A Reddit thread has compiled some of the rumours about "Destiny 2" so far. If these are correct, then the game may arrive to the PC. Fans can expect new subclasses, longer raids, and a gameplay of 60 framerates per second.

However, the current "Destiny" arc called "Age of Triumph" appears to be the final update as Bungie prepares for the launch of the sequel. The new patch has allowed players to gain access to a wide variety of quests, items, armours and weapons that have been previously been discontinued throughout previous updates.

This means Guardians can finally play dungeons that were previously inaccessible. These include raids that were closed down after certain holiday events.

The game now also offers ways for players to boost their Light Level in order to gain access to more difficult dungeons. Unfortunately, not much was revealed as to how this patch will affect the transition to the new title.

"Destiny" had a Sept. 9, 2014 release. Its two expansions, "The Taken King" and "Rise of Iron" were released on Sept. 15, 2015 and Sept. 20, 2016 respectively.

The game is set on a post-apocalyptic setting where a mysterious cataclysm has wiped out all sentient life on planet Earth. Players, as Guardians, will have to protect what is left of human civilisation from extraterrestrial threats.
