“Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” star Rachel Bloom and actor Adam Pally have been roped in by Lionsgate for an upcoming dark comedy, which begins production begins next month. Titled as “Most Likely to Murder,” the project will be filmed entirely in New York, it has been reported. Here’s what you need to know about the Rachel Bloom starrer.

Bloom’s spouse Dan Gregor, who had also worked with the actor on the CW series “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend,” will be directing the film. Gregor co-wrote the script with writer Doug Mand, the former’s co-writer on “Crazy-Ex-Girlfriend” and “How I Met Your Mother.” It has been said that Mand also has a role in the duo’s other movie venture, titled “Rear Window for Stoners.”

Actors Rachel Bloom and Adam Pally are also the producers of “Most Likely to Murder.” Petra Ahmann joins the film as their co-producer. Gregor and Mand will executive produce the film while Jordan Gilbert oversees for the studio, says a Deadline report.

The movie was picked up through Lionsgate Premiere, a Lionsgate studio that produces low-budget features and episodic series. The studio has worked with Grace Helbig, Freddie Wong, Flula Borg and Hannah Hart. It is also known for the production of the Hulu films “Dirty 30” and “Dimension 404.”

“Most Likely to Murder” is about Billy (Adam Pally), once the most popular kid in high school, comes back to his hometown 10 years later only to find a former high school outcast taking his place. He is no longer cool and the girl he had feelings for during high school (and still has) is now dating the high school outcast. This irks Billy, who takes it as an opportunity when the loner’s mother dies under mysterious circumstances, and makes it his life’s mission to prove that the woman was actually murdered and that somehow and in some way the outcast is involved.

Rachel Bloom has won a Golden Globe for her role as Rebecca Bunch on the CW comedy series “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend,” which also won two Emmys. “I am so excited for this,” Bloom tweeted of the film on Wednesday, according to Entertainment Weekly.

“Most Likely to Murder” details are under wraps at the moment. The studio is yet to disclose casting and a release date. Meanwhile, Bloom’s fans can watch “Crazy Ex-girlfriend” season 1 and season 2 on Netflix. “Crazy Ex-girlfriend” season 3 is expected to arrive latest by 2018.
