A year after his son's' tragic death, Cory Monteith's father Joe Monteith opens up to ET Canada how he misses his son and even talked about Cory's former girlfriend, Lea Michelle. Still mourning after the "Glee" star's death, Joe revealed how he felt so empty without his son and revealed that he wasn't allowed to attend the viewing of the actor's body.

"I still miss him very much and I still have the empty feeling inside," said the older Monteith in an interview with ET's Rick Campanelli when asked about his son's passing. "Cory was a likeable young man and if he was in the room, you'd be smiling. He enjoyed life. That's why I was so shocked about the outcome of everything."

Found dead from a drug overdose a year ago, July 13, 2013, at the Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel in Vancouver, the 31-year-old late actor was at the top of his career in the musical TV series. Joe wasn't in touch with Cory at the time of his death and that was one of the reasons why he was not allowed to view his body before he was cremated.

"I never talked to him while he was in rehab. And then all of a sudden four weeks later he was out of rehab," stated Joe, adding, "I thought that was kind of soon...I didn't get to go to his viewing. Which would have meant a lot. I guess they sprayed his ashes in a cove that he really enjoyed going to."

The late actor's father also talked about Lea Michelle and revealed that he did not expect the actress to do it alone and said that life must go on. "She should enjoy life. She had a good time when she was with Cory, from what I understand, but life's gotta go on," he concluded.

To celebrate Cory's death anniversary, Michelle and the whole "Glee" family took the time to remember the Canadian actor on Sunday and took to Twitter to honor him. Known for his role as football star Finn Hudson, the Broadway singer posted a picture of the late star and tweeted: "We hold you in our hearts today, and every day we remember your smile. We will love you and miss you always."

Cory's costar Matthew Morrison also tweeted a heartfelt message to the fallen actor as he celebrates his life. He wrote: "I personally believe Cory was reborn into some other beautiful form a year ago today. I celebrate him and his life... Wherever that may be. Happy Birthday my friend....I miss you."
