Oprah Winfrey never said Miss Philippines should have won the 2011 Miss Universe crown, an aide says.

Just a day after the new Miss Universe has been crowned, rumors about Oprah Winfrey's favorable comment about Miss Philippines spread. Once the coveted Miss Universe 2011 title was given to Miss Angola, Leila Lopes, Winfrey allegedly released a statement to NBC, saying that Miss Philippines should have won and not the African beauty. A moderator working for Oprah Winfrey's Web site has responded to the allegations saying there is absolutely no truth to the claim.

"There is no truth to the statement. Ms. Winfrey has not made any comments of this nature. Thank you for asking." says the moderator as reported by Yahoo news.

The debunked statement said Oprah thinks Shamcey Supsup from the Philippines should have won because of her straightforward answer without the use of an interpreter. The statement reads:

"I have reservations with the results. If the only basis is the Q and A portion, after having been trimmed down to 5, Ms. Philippines deserved to win. What made her different from the rest is that she had no seconds to rethink of her answer as she had no interpreter to break the ice.The rest had their interpreters and having breaks on seconds to think about their answers. Hands down, Ms. Philippines answered straight to the point."

In a local news report, Miss Phillipines said she was happy for Miss Angola and wanted everyone to be as well.
