Colin Farrell has not gone out on a date for four years now. The Irish actor is said to be devoting all his time and attention on his kids instead.

In an interview with Sunday Times (via E News), the actor admitted to being loveless for the last four years. He said it became quite difficult to make time for dates with his busy work schedule and his kids. He said that even though it sounds incredulous and unexpected, but it is the truth. Farrell, 38, has two boys under his care, James, 11 and Henry, 5. He said being a father makes him realise that life is not all about him anymore, which for him, is a “relief.” He described being a father means helping his children find their place in a much “bigger world.” “It’s not about ‘me, me, me the loudmouth’ anymore -- and that takes the pressure off me to live up to those expectations,” he added, explaining his relief.

His hard work on his movies however, are being recognized. According to a recent report, Farrell will be receiving the Navigator Award at the 16th annual Maui Film Festival, which would be from June 3 to 7. Other artists that have also received such an award were Tim Burton, Jessica Chastain, Clint Eastwood, Andrew Garfield, Jake Gyllenhaal and Lupita Nyong’o. The award is designed to honor a film artist for being both unique and excellent. The Maui Film Festival would take place at the Wailea Resort. Celestina Cinema is said to be hosting the event and awarding Farrell.

“Colin Farrell is a chameleon who constantly creates one-of-a-kind characters,” said Maui director Barry Rivers. “In short, Colin is a cinematic force of nature,” he added. The fest was established 15 years ago, by Barry and Stella Rivers in 2000. Since its creation, it has already screened more than 600 movies.

As he said, he currently has a very busy schedule. He is now shooting for the second season of “True Detective,” which is a HBO drama. On the said TV show, he is working alongside artists Rachel McAdams and Vince Vaughan. Before this project, he wrapped up the independent film “The Lobster.” The movie would feature Rachel Weisz.
