If Cinderella belonged to this century, she would be more than happy to flaunt a pair of Jimmy Choo, Manolo, Paul Andrews on her dainty little feet; the perfect gift from her fairy godmother. The fairytale princess’ famed glass slippers is all set for a makeover by footwear designers Jimmy Choo, Paul Andrew, Alexandre Birman, Rene Caovilla, Salvatore Ferragamo, Nicholas Kirkwood, Charlotte Olympia, Jerome Rousseau, and Stuart Weitzman, according to Marie Claire.

This comes at a time when the live-action Disney film is due for release on March 27th this year. The dream shoes is all set to get a new haute look in honour of the film. Disney had asked the footwear designers to create their interpretation of the iconic glass slippers. All the designers have produced sketches of their dream shoes. The slippers have it all, right from crystal embellishments to sculptural perspex uppers, each designer label has put its own luxurious stamp on the fantasy footwear’s concept.

The nine new styles are set to be revealed on Friday. The shoes will be available throughout the world for order at Harrods, London and Saks Fifth Avenue, New York featuring Swarovski crystals that are being used in the film’s costumes.

According to David Lee, footwear director at Disney EMEA, said that Cinderella’s glass slipper is now a "magical symbol of transformation." He said, "each pair of shoes in this exciting global collection captures Cinderella’s elegance and grace through the lens of celebrated designers, making this shoe collection truly fit for a princess.” Jimmy Choo wants to create a shoe that is magical, feminine and evokes a timeless silhouette, reminding of the childhood days along with an element of sparkle, said Sandra Choi, creative director of the company.

Charlotte Olympia said, “This transparent platform shoe made with my signature PVC and perspex material is adorned with star and crystal detailing as befits any princess.” According to Nicolas Kirkwood, Cinderella has both delicate and strong qualities as a character and the moment of transformation emphasises both. So he created a piece that highlighted the magic element in the story.
