“Captain America: Civil War” has a surprise new cast member. Alfre Woodard, who is playing Mariah Dillard in the upcoming web TV series “Luke Cage,” may be playing the same character in the highly anticipated superhero film.

According to ComicBook.com, the 63-year-old American actress’ name has been included in the cast members attending the upcoming world premiere of “Civil War” next week. She wasn’t in the announced cast before, so her appearance in the premiere might mean she’s part of the cast.

“Luke Cage” is based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name. So if Woodard is playing Mariah Dillard in the series, it’s highly unlikely she would be playing a different character in the same Marvel cinematic universe.

As Comic Book notes, if Woodard is indeed in “Civil War” and does play the same character, it would be the first Marvel movie reference to one of Netflix’s Marvel shows. Nevertheless, she isn’t the only “Luke Cage” cast attending the film premiere. Mike Colter, who plays the titular character, will also be there, as well as the cast from “Daredevil” and “Marvels Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” However, unlike Woodard, they are all listed as “Special Guests.” Comedian Jim Rash (“Community”) will also attend the premiere.

“Good Morning America” has debuted a behind-the-scenes video from “Captain America: Civil War” set in Atlanta, Georgia in the US. The cast, as well as directors Anthony and Joe Russo, talked about the battle within the Avengers team.

Meanwhile, Elizabeth Olsen, who plays Scarlett Witch/Wanda Maximoff, has revealed there will be “sweet moments” between her character and Vision (Paul Bettany), hinting that the film might take on the comic book plot. Scarlet and Vision were married in the books. They even had magically constructed twin boys.

“Captain America: Civil War” will open in Australia on April 29, and in New Zealand a day earlier.
