The very first edition of the White House Student Film Festival is accepting entries from student filmmakers. It has been announced on the official Web site of the White House. It has also been tweeted with the information.

The film festival has been created only for U.S. K-12 students. Their videos/films that reach the final round will be posted on the official Web site of the White House. Additionally, those will also be screened at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. The specific videos can also be a part of the YouTube channel and other social media pages.

Here is how the 'President's assignment' looks like. The While House is looking for videos to focus on the 'power of technology in schools'. The Web site makes it more convenient for the budding filmmakers to get a hold of their subject by giving ample suggestions. It suggests that the film should be about the way students use technology at school at the moment. Alternatively, they can also portray how technology plays a role in futuristic education.

The Web site also suggests some topics which may be considered as 'star-up ideas'. The topics are:

How Technology Helps with Critical Thinking, Project Based Learning, Making and Tinkering, Student Creativity, Global Collaboration, Online Learning and Personalised Learning.

The Web site gives further suggestions and examples to stimulate the young filmmakers' creativity. It says that they may consider showing how technology is used as a creation tool, how it can be used in new and innovative ways and how it can be used for accessing high quality online resources and content.

However, the Web site clearly mentions that those are examples only, which means that students are free to brainstorm as much as they can to come up with fresh and innovative ideas. One has to go to the Web site to download the entry guide and apply for the competition.
