‘Buffy The Vampire Slayer’ actor Nicholas Brendon checks into a treatment facility for 90 days
Troubled actor Nicholas Brendon is reportedly attending a 90-day treatment program at a facility after revealing he had “failed attempts at suicide.”
Brendon announced the news on Saturday via Facebook.
“Hello to all my amazingly supportive fans. I'm going to be going into a 90 day treatment program to fix myself and to understand the traumas of my mind. I love and appreciate you all so much,” he wrote.
It is the second time this year that the actor has sought a treatment, Entertainment Tonight reported. He first checked into a rehab in June for substance abuse, depression and alcoholism.
Brendon also attended a treatment facility for help between 2004 and 2010.
The “Buffy The Vampire Slayer” star has also been arrested four times this year for unspecified mental health issues and unwanted behaviour.
According to People, Brendon’s latest arrest was in early October for allegedly choking his girlfriend after a fight in Saratoga Springs, New York. He was charged with felony, third degree robbery, criminal mischief and obstruction of breathing. The actor spent a night in jail and was released after posting a US$20,000 (AU$27,478) bail.
The 44-year-old actor posted another message to thank his fans and explain his condition on Facebook.
“It's been bad for me the last three years and I've had failed attempts at suicide. I really just want to live and love and be filled with Joy. I'm on the long and arduous path to find such things,” the actor wrote.
The actor also said he relates to all people “struggling” from the same issues and admitted that he has been “trying” hard to fix himself. He concluded his status with “love” for his supporters.
Brendon is known for his role of Xander Harris in the TV series and TV movie “Buffy The Vampire Slayer.” He also appeared in shows like “Kitchen Confidential,” “Private Practice” and “Hollywood Heights.”
