Retired professional boxer Oscar De La Hoya believes that Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather are on even terms, as far as punching power and speed are concerned.

The former Olympics gold medalist has tasted both of the aforementioned fighters' gloves in the past, and gave his honest assessment about their ability.

"I had good whiskers. We all know that Mayweather is not known for a big punch. It stings, yes," was his response when asked who punches stronger.

"I would have to say that they are about the same because, you know, it's funny, I didn't feel Pacquiao's punch. Like he didn't do anything to me."

"Maybe it's because coming up in weight and I believe that was his first fight at welterweight. So didn't really feel his punch. With him, it was more of the accumulation...but I would think they punch the same."

He reiterated Money's superiority on the tactical aspect of the game, but yielded that Pacman has the ability to send an opponent down to the canvass.

"The only difference is that Pacquiao has the ability to really knock you out. But he's gotta land that perfect punch."

"And Pacquiao doesn't have that good timing like Mayweather. It's more accumulation. So, I would say they're about the same."

When asked who has the faster punch, De La Hoya still rated them equal.

"Speed? It's different...because Mayweather is a guy who times you. He'll throw one fast shot. Mayweather's not a guy who'll throw a combination; he's not that type of fighter," he said.

"Pacquiao is. He'll throw 4, 5, 6, 7 punches, and fast...today? I would have to go with, um, I think both guys might be the same, yeah."

"But, you tell me a few years ago, 4, 5, years ago, I would have to go with Pacquiao. I mean, both guys have slowed down a bit, but they're still pretty quick. I think it's even."
