Another exciting and action-packed storyline awaits “Blue Bloods” fans as the hit police drama returns on Friday. On Season 7 Episode 13, titled “The One That Got Away,” Frank (Tom Selleck) finds himself in a tricky situation when he disregards jurisdiction laws to intervene in a sensitive case.

Spoilers suggest that Frank steps in to assist Danny (Donnie Wahlberg) and Det. Maria Baez (Marisa Ramirez) as they handle a child abuse complaint. The case gets complicated when the suspect turns out to be a diplomat, who uses his immunity to protect himself. “NYPD Blue” actress Sharon Lawrence has signed up as a guest to play the role of Christine Sanders, who will reportedly put the police commissioner in his place.

She joins other “Blue Bloods” characters who will appear prominently on the Jan. 20 run including Erin (Bridget Moynahan), Danny (Donnie Wahlberg), Jamie (Will Estes) and Eddie Janko (Vanessa Ray). The series also stars Det. Maria Baez (Marisa Ramirez), Henry (Len Cariou), Linda (Amy Carlson) and Nicky (Sami Gayle).

According to TV Guide, Friday’s episode also centres on Eddie and Jamie, who go out on a double date. However, their romantic moment gets interrupted when they are forced to deal with a robbery. Despite being off-duty, the couple has no choice but to prioritise their jobs over their time together.

CBS has posted a sneak peek of the Jan. 20 episode of “Blue Bloods” on its official site. In the trailer, Danny questions a young boy who’s confined in a hospital because of his injuries. “My dad hit me,” the kid reveals. Danny wastes no time arresting the victim’s dad, but the father insists they can’t arrest him. “I have diplomatic immunity,” the dad declares, catching Danny off-guard.

Danny then consults Frank about the case, wondering, “Are we just supposed to sit back and allow a young boy to be abused?” Frank replies, “Not on my watch.” However, Frank’s determination to rescue the victim seems to land him in hot water. Christine reminds him that the case is not police business. “Stay out of it,” she orders him. Frank adamantly argues that it is exactly a police matter. “I don’t take orders from you,” he says.

“The One That Got Away” is directed by Jane Raab and written by Siobhan Byrne O’Connor.
