"The Age of Adaline" star Blake Lively has announced that she will shut down her lifestyle website Preserve on Friday, Oct. 9. Lively ventured into the world of online business in 2014.

One of her goals with Preserve was to connect several people to artisans who make handmade and one-of-a-kind items. Unfortunately, it didn’t turn out to be how she originally envisioned it and she has decided to close it down.

Lively has bravely admitted that Preserve failed to make any impact on the lives of people, which was her main motive behind launching the website.

"We have an incredible team of people who do beautiful work, but we launched the site before it was ready, and it never caught up to its original mission: It's not making a difference in people's lives, whether superficially or in a meaningful way, " the actress revealed in an interview with Vogue.

Lively also took to Instagram to thank all those who supported Preserve. The photo shows the former “Gossip Girl” star wearing multiple hats while holding a picnic basket and several coats. It appears as if she’s wearing a plaid shirt, tights and brown boots.

Lively launched the digital magazine and e-commerce website with a plethora of exquisite and unique items. Notably, each item available on the website was personally selected by Lively. Shutting down Preserve is a scary but brave choice, according to the actress.

However, she also revealed that it’s not the end of her foray into the online world. She plans on making a comeback in this field soon. Despite failing in her first major Internet venture, Blake has promised her fans that she will return with something better in store for them.

Blake’s Preserve site is similar to Goop, which is curated by Gwyneth Paltrow. Aside from Lively and Paltrow, Reese Witherspoon has also joined the bandwagon of celebrities launching their own websites. Witherspoon’s site is called Draper James.

Apart from acting and managing Preserve, Lively also has several other ventures, including cooking, baking and designing. Her love for baking even prompted the actress to create a S'mores cupcakes in 2011, which were sold at Sprinkles Cupcakes in Beverly Hills.

Blake Lively is married to actor Ryan Reynolds and they have a daughter named James Reynolds. The actress was last seen in the movie "The Age of Adaline." She will be seen next as Gina in 2016’s "All I See Is You" with Jason Clarke (James) and Yvonne Strahovski (Karen). She will also appear in an untitled comedy-drama written and directed by Woody Allen. Some of her co-stars in Allen’s film include Kristen Stewart, Steve Carell, Parker Posey and Jesse Eisenberg.
