Weight loss expert and a frequent guest on the Dr. Oz Show, Dr. Mark Hyman, has been the dietician for Bill Clinton and his wife Hillary Clinton for the past 10 years. He has been providing his valuable tips and diets to the Clintons since 2004, and since then Bill Clinton has lost 30 pounds. Clinton had gone through a bypass surgery a decade ago and, thanks to Dr. Mark's sugar detox program, his health also has radically improved.

Bill Clinton was on a vegan diet and most people think that going vegan helps reduce weight. However, contrary to popular beliefs, Hyman, author of the bestseller "The Blood Sugar Solution" told NYTimes that a lot of overweight people are vegans. He explained that his main aim was to get Clinton to stop his vegan diet because it does not provide the body with everything that it requires. "It's hard being a vegan to eat enough good, quality protein and not have too much starch," he said.

In her website, Jillian Michaels, American personal trainer, businesswoman, author and television personality from Los Angeles, has clearly mentioned that the vegan diet could be a boon or a bane depending on how well the practitioner balances his diet. She explains that a lot of vegans take to cereals and bread, which contain a high amount of carbohydrates, contributing to weight gain. A balance of proteins and carbons is a must, otherwise, there would be a lot of health problems and not just wieght gain.

While several celebrities have turned to a vegan diet to reduce weight and stay in shape, Hyman recommends a sugar-free diet. The same diet that he prescribed for the Clintons, the sugar-free diet includes unprocessed foods, including high-quality proteins such as salmon and plenty of non-starchy vegetables. He stated that getting rid of sugar is the best, as it would "make the biggest difference in your health."

Hyman cautioned that sugar is eight times more addictive than cocaine. "Sugar is the new nicotine. Sugar is the new fat -- except fat is not addictive in the way that sugar is. And worse, sugar actually causes diabetes and obesity." Apart from causing weight gain, sugar is also the leading cause for diabetes and other health problems.

Omitting sugar from your diet would be equal to omitting toxins, enhancing weight loss and giving yourself a healthy lifestyle. With Hyman's sugar-free diet, Bill Clinton has maintained his 30-pound weight for the past four years, saying, "I have never felt better."

Dr. Hyman provided simple tips to stay fit and healthy, "Eat real food, walk a little bit, sleep eight hours, do a few things to relax, write a little bit in your journal, take a multivitamin." He assures all those aspiring to lose weight that it's extremely simple and is not rocket science.
