For Freddie Mercury's 65th birthday, fellow rock stars and artists recorded short videos of themselves revealing how much the Queen front man honed their lives as musicians.

From Billy Corgan to Katy Perry, Queen's Freddy Mercury seems to have changed many musicians' lives when it came to following their dreams. Billy Corgan, the vocalist of much-celebrated alternative band The Smashing Pumpkins, credits Mercury as one of the best songwriters in the history of music.

Born on Sept. 5, 1946, Mercury became famous for penning hits with his band Queen such as "Bohemian Rhapsody," "Killer Queen," "Under Pressure" and the victory anthem "We Are the Champions." Known to be the most influential, energetic, and lively front man to ever grace a glam rock band, Mercury singlehandedly placed Queen on the legends list with his talent and sheer genius.

On 1987, Mercury was diagnosed with HIV but hid his disease from the public for quite some time when he discovered it. The Queen, as a band was already slowing down when it came to appearances and tours, although Mercury's real condition was kept hidden from the public. Mercury passed away on the morning of Nov. 24, 1991 in his home in Kensington. Mercury should have been 65 today.
