Amy Woodruff, controversially known as "Naked Yoga Breastfeeding Mom", was banned from Instagram due to a viral photo which dates back to 2011.

Naked Yoga Breastfeeding Mom is now banned from Instagram

Now, the "Naked Yoga Breastfeeding Mom" had attracted supporters on Instagram calling for her account, "Daughter of The Sun", to be put back in the social media site. Supporters were using the hashtag #savethedaughterofthe sun.

But why should Instagram not ban the "Naked Yoga Breastfeeding Mom"?

Through an interview with Baby Center, the "Daughter of the Sun", Ms Woodruff explained the culture behind the viral photo.

"The truth is we were living on a small community in Hawaii where our land was clothing optional and yoga was/is a necessity! I was just doing my daily flow when the little sweet pea came to sneak a suckle. Papa had her out in the grass with him and she just couldn't resist! This happens all the time by the way. When a breast is out and baby is around, they are going to try and get it anyway they can! I have been blogging for years now and this photo was just a simple share of a beautiful captured moment."

"It really began with my love for primitive skills and working with others who had walked away from the everyday 9 to 5. There is a true inner peace realized when you actualize the concept "less is more." We live in a society that is plagued with consumerism," Ms Woodruff explained further.

"In 2008, I saved a handful of money, gave my landlord a 30-day notice, quit my job, loaded up my truck and took off on a six month journey across the states. I had a 16′ teepee that I had been living in and brought it with as well. I was deep into my yoga practice and put a lot of trust in the universe knowing I was being guided and taken care of on every level. That journey changed my life forever and I met my beloved shortly after," she shared.

Agustin White, Ms Woodruff's partner had also issued an official statement to support her, the excerpt as follows:

"Instagram censoring Daughter of Sun's images is a joke to me. How any of her images could be considered pornographic is beyond me. When a breastfeeding woman becomes the target of corporate censorship, we know something is wrong. Hopefully this creates a healthy dialogue and helps to start opening peoples' eyes to how disconnected from mother nature we have become."

In a report from The Huffington Post, Instagram aired its side of the story through an official statement:

"Instagram has a clear set of community guidelines that make it clear what is and isn't allowed. While we cannot comment on individual accounts, we followed our usual protocol on this occasion and took action on content that broke our community guidelines. We encourage people who come across content that makes them uncomfortable to report it to us using the built-in reporting tools next to every photo or video on Instagram."
