In a recent interview with “Avengers: Age of Ultron” Director Joss Whedon, he talked about how Arron Taylor-Johnson’s Quicksilver differs from Evan Peters’ portrayal of the character in “X-Men: Days of Future Past.” Whedon admitted he was not happy with the double portrayal but nonetheless assured Avengers fans that the Quicksilver in “Age of Ultron” is entirely different from that in “X-Men.”

Joss Whedon told Buzzfeed that he was “never thrilled” when he realised that “X-Men: Days of Future Past” was also using Quicksilver. With Evan Peters’ Quicksilver and Quicksilver in “The Flash," there’s reportedly bound to be some comparisons between the two character portrayals with that in "Age of Ultron." However, Joss Whedon guaranteed that Aaron Taylor- Johnson’s portrayal of the speedster in “Avengers: Age of Ultron” would not be the same with Evan Peters’. “There’s going to be an entire season of 'The Flash' that’s gone on before my movie too, and what Aaron is doing and what I wanted him to do is so different from what they were doing in that movie, that I think we’re fine,” he said.

Despite the two character portrayals, both Joss Whedon and Marvel Studio President Kevin Feige reportedly also praised Quicksilver’s kitchen scene in “X-Men: Days of Future Past.” Likewise, Feige said that Quicksilver in “Avengers: Age of Ultron” will be “very different based on the various interpretations of the character.” “It may as well be different characters,” he added.

Joss Whedon once talked about the process done when shooting Quicksilver’s speed during an interview with Marvel.com. According to IGN, the director wanted Quicksilver’s scenes in “Avengers: Age of Ultron” to be “strange and poetic” but in a way that audiences will not be confused with what they see. "When we're at speed with him, we're going fast, we're going slow; it's not like we're trying to do some enormous slow-guy set piece, it's just something we never had license to do in the first movie,” he said.

When asked why he had decided to add Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) to “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” Whedon said the characters would be the film’s game-changer, especially where their powers are concerned. Their powers are said to be different from the existing Avengers that they’re bound to bring an emotional and stylistic change to the movie.
