Australia is set to see the launch of two of the most anticipated games this week. With a slew of AAA titles just around the corner, it is worth noting that these games may be some of the best this year.

Gamespot lists down the upcoming video games to hit Australian retailers this year. The first of which is the critically acclaimed “Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain,” which is set to hit the shelves on Sept.1 for the Xbox One, Playstation 4, Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC. The direct sequel to 2014’s “Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes,” is currently one of the best reviewed games of all time. In fact, the game’s publisher Konami said that the game is a guaranteed Game of the Year title. But the game is not without bad news as one of the main proponents in the “Metal Gear” series, Hideo Kojima, was removed from the project upon its completion.

Konami notes that those who pre-ordered the collector’s edition of the game on the Playstation 4 may find the some of the DLC codes are missing. The company said that players could still receive these codes through receipt or via email.

The following day, players can get their hands on the video game adaptation of the popular movie “Mad Max: Fury Road.” The game titled “Mad Max” is not purely based on the film itself but it does take hints from the film. Like the film, the setting of the action game is on a vast desolate desert in which players face action and danger while exploring. One of the core mechanics of the game is the upgrade system in which players will get to power up both the main protagonist and his vehicle. Perhaps one of the best features of “Mad Max” is that the map isn’t finite. In an interview with GamingBolt, Senior Producer John Fuller, confirmed details about the game’s map. Fuller said “There are no finite limits to the map… in other words, there is no ‘one side,’” he said when asked how long it’ll take to traverse the map. “You can continue driving into The Big Nothing until you get bored or killed.” “Mad Max” is set to hit the shelves on Sept. 2 for the Playstation 4, Xbox One and PC.
