His co-passengers at the Qantas flight were unsurprisingly taking his photos with their phones and Australian Idol Wes Carr was giving them his usual smile.

Little did his unsuspecting fans know that he was already suffering a severe anxiety panic attack during his flight from Sydney to the United States.

Interviewed for the release of his second album’s first single, “Been a Long Time” - - which hit the airwaves yesterday - - Carr shared his experience as the Qantas plane taxied down the Sydney runway in August last year.

"I was having a full-blown panic attack, people were taking photos of me with their phones and I had to get off the plane. It was horrible," Carr was quoted as saying by The Daily Telegraph.

The singer-songwriter was on his way to Nashville to write songs for his second record, which was delayed due to his anxiety attack. The 28-year-old Australian Idol recounted how he had to ask the flight attendants to allow him get off the plane, emphasizing that the only thing that gave him the strength to get through the crippling panic attack was the thought of completing his long-awaited second record, said The Daily Telegraph.

The Australian Idol then decided to seek treatment on the North Coast. He said that he spent six weeks trying to fight his demons before sitting down and started working for his record before year-end.

"I have always had problems with anxiety, even when I was a kid, but I swept it under the rug and adopted this persona of Wes Carr from Australian Idol," Carr said.

The Australian Idol is expected to be holding shows in city malls in the next two weeks, and he said that he will be posting more announcements on Twitter.

Carr will be performing his single, Been A Long Time which according to The Daily Telegraph is a song where Carr expresses some of his desperation when feeling alienated and panicked.

Been A Long Time is scheduled to be released late May and the album will have its official release later this year.
