Olympic swimmer from Australia Stephanie Rice made a lot of buzz after posting an Instagram photo of her in a risqué two-piece bikini wear. It was in line for the swimmer's 24th birthday and the bikini was designed by Ellie Gonsalves. It was the swimwear designer's birthday present for the Olympian.

It was made clear her management that the athlete is not an official endorser of the designer's swimwear creations. Some critics say that it could be some form of publicity right before The Games, but the bikini is not in conflict with any of the present endorsements of rice.

With the sexy swimmer being an active user of various social media accounts, this was not the first time that she got in trouble.

The Controversial Persona Of Stephanie Rice

In 2008, there were pictures of Rice that emerged in Facebook with her dressed in a skin-tight police costume. This led to the Swimming Australia organization releasing an order for all swimmers to block all their Facebook pages to the public.

She once again made things controversial in 2010 due to a homophobic comment she made over Twitter. She tweeted about the win of Australian rugby players against South Africa which resulted to having lost a major sponsor and a public apology which showed her in tears.

During the early parts of this year, she posted her picture wearing a red swimwear several weeks after she broke up with Quade Cooper.

After she has posted her most recent racy swimwear that raised the eyebrows of many, Rice has triggered a large number of debate on television, newspapers and Twitter account holders in Down Under. Some found the picture way "too sexy" and even petitioned for the female swimmer to be dropped from the official Olympic team.

Big Deal or Small Thing?

There were fans of Stephanie Rice who were disappointed with the picture of their idol athlete, but for others, it is just another swimwear picture. It could just be the stigma that Rice has developed through the years for being the naughty type of sport personality which led to this gamut of criticisms.

Or that the society has been used to the perspective that it is inappropriate for any female to take a photo of herself while wearing as suit as sexy as a two piece bikini.

Above all, if Rice would be able to defend her crowns in the coming London Olympics, then she will be able to revive again her tinted image of being Olympic golden girl. Rice will compete for the women's division of the individuals swimming 200m and 400m medley.
