A day after reports surfaced that Amir Khan has been chosen as Manny Pacquiao's next opponent, Bob Arum denied the news saying that no Pacquiao-Khan contract has been signed.

"It's total [expletive]. We haven't sent an offer to anyone. Where he's getting this [expletive] I have no idea. But even Khan's uncle called me to apologize because they know it's not true,” Arum said making the denial via the Las Vegas Review-Journal on Tuesday.

Arum also updated the status on the search for Pacquiao’s next opponent adding that they have already sent tapes of Terence Crawford to Pacquiao’s camp so that the Filipino boxer can evaluate the American fighter as a probable opponent in April 2016.

The veteran promoter stated that the final decision would be with Pacquiao, whom he plans to meet “later this month.”

In a separate interview, Crawford stated that he’s ready for a match-up with Pacquiao and even said that it is time for the new generation of boxers to replace the old ones like Floyd Mayweather Jr., Timothy Bradley, Miguel Cotto and Pacquiao.

The original report that Khan has won the Pacquiao sweepstakes came from a Daily Mail article, which stated that the Pacquiao-Khan bout is set for April 9, 2016 in Las Vegas, Nevada in the United States.

According to the report, the father of Amir, Shah Khan confirmed that “paperwork” was already sent to Arum and that “every point” of the agreement was already covered.

Arum blatantly denied that an agreement is in place even calling the writer, Jeff Powell, as a “lunatic” for making the made-up story and questioned his credibility.

"This is the same guy who said Khan was going to fight Mayweather and that Lennox Lewis was coming out of retirement to fight Klitschko," Arum added. "So you can see how much credibility he has, which is zero. He could have called me but he didn't because once I told him the truth, there goes his story."
