It was reported that the iPhone 6c, the lower-end smartphone, will be launched in early 2016 along with Apple Watch 2, but the exact launch date was unclear. The latest rumour indicates the launch of the smartphone to be in April 2016.

According to MacRumors, a Chinese website called MyDrivers claims that the 4-inch iPhone 6c will be unveiled during spring in 2016.

Chinese carrier China Mobile unveiled a roadmap during a presentation, as reported by MyDrivers. It shows the 4-inch iPhone as iPhone 7c and will be launched in April 2016. Industry observers are still divided on the name of the lower-end smartphone. Apple is less likely to name the 4-inch smartphone as iPhone 7c for it is not launched yet, MacRumors argues. So, Apple is most likely to name the handset as iPhone 6c.

According to 9to5Mac’s Mark Gurman, Apple intends to organize a major press event in March next year. The press event may divulge information on the second generation Apple Watch and iPhone 6c. Earlier reports reported that the iPhone 6c will sport a 4-inch display similar to iPhone 5c but with a metallic build. It is speculated that the iPhone 6c may not come with more colour options which the regular line of flagship originally had.

China Mobile notes that Apple is apparently working on featuring an A9 processor and Apple Pay in iPhone 6c. The unit will be priced at around US$449 (AU$619). It also noted that the device will not have a 3D Touch display.

The new leak suggests the same information on what Gurman had reported earlier, but rumours will remain rumours until Apple confirms the launch of the iPhone 6c and Apple Watch 2.
