Apple had just formally announced two new iPhone devices in their recently conducted Sept 10 event.

For the fickle-minded Aussie buyers, here are iPhone 5S and 5C quick price and features comparisons.

The iPhone 5C, as all known by now, is the cheaper of the two newly launched iPhones, but its starting price is at $739 for the 16GB model. If you look at other smartphone devices from competing brands, there are cheaper 16 GB devices than the iPhone 5C.

The iPhone 5C is plastic, but according to those who actually experienced the device, the plastic is of good quality; as how Apple puts it: "solid, dense feel that you would not expect from a plastic product."

For the quirky Aussie or the younger crowd, the colourful choices of iPhone 5C's casing might be the deciding factor. There is blue, green, pink and yellow and white. Even silicon cases come in different colours at a price of $39.

The iPhone 5C is already available for pre-order on Sept 13.

For the more mature crowd or the businessman type, the iPhone 5S aluminium shell might be the deciding factor. It comes in gold, silver and gray and slicker than the iPhone 5C. However, it comes costly at $869 for the 16GB.

The iPhone 5S comes with a faster chip and a fingerprint scanner that allows user to buy from iTunes Store through his or her fingerprint instead of a password. The leather case for iPhone 5S is priced at $48.

The iPhone 5S also comes with bigger pixels for the images and an interesting slow motion video recording feature.

As for the iPhone 5C:

"iPhone 5c is everything iPhone 5 was and more, in an all-new design packed with great features. iPhone 5c is designed with a beautiful polycarbonate enclosure that looks and feels so solid in your hand," said Mr Schiller.

Both iPhone 5S and 5C have 4-inch screens but the major difference will be the storage space. There is a 64GB version of the iPhone 5S while the biggest iPhone 5C version is only at 32GB.

Both models have a talk time of up to 10 hours on 3G and an 8MP camera.
