Apple has informed its app developers that over the next 36 hours several countries will see a change in App Store prices, according to fresh reports.

In an email sent by Apple to its app developers, the company informed about a price increase in Mexico, South Africa, South Korea and Turkey, reports 9 to 5 Mac. The publication also mentioned that in some countries, developers will also be able to choose from two new pricing tiers.

Developers looking at selling their apps in the South Korean App Store will witness price increases to add a 10 percent value-added tax. Apple will pay tax on behalf of those developers living outside South Korea but those based in the country will have to pay taxes themselves. “Purchases on the South Korean App Store now include a value-added tax (VAT) of 10 percent. If you’re a developer based outside of South Korea, we’ll pay the VAT that we’ll be collecting for you. If you’re a developer based in South Korea, you’re still responsible for paying the VAT,” Apple said to its developers via email.

Owing to the new price increases, customers who have been subscribing to recurring services in three out of the four countries enlisted by Apple, will have to resubscribe to those services, while customers in Mexico will be charged with the new prices automatically. New pricing tiers have been included in Turkey, Mexico, South Africa, Russia, Indonesia and India. Apps that have been using “Alternate Tier A” and “Alternate Tier B” pricing options in China will have the same setting applied in the new countries as well, as per the 9 to 5 Mac report.

As per a report on PocketGamer.biz, such price changes are common due to changes in taxes and foreign exchange rates.
