Prince William and Princess Kate Middleton will be adding a new tennis court to their country home in Anmer Hall. The royal couple already submitted the application, along with construction plans, to the King's Lynn and West Norfolk council.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are avid tennis fans, even playing opposite each other during their courtship days as classmates at the University of St Andrews. Given that the existing tennis court at Anmer Hall has fallen into disrepair, the royal couple plans to upgrade the court and move it to a new location, reports People.

According to UK’s the Mirror, the application filed by officials at Sandringham Estate states that the existing tennis court, that looks out over the vast parkland, will need to be completely resurfaced. The royal couple were then advised by the landscape designer that it will be best to move it to an area that will provide more space around the court, as stated in the planning application.

The new tennis court will be moved to an undeveloped garden, which is further away from the house. The designer’s recommendation to relocate the court will also improve the views coming from the 10-bedroom Anmer Hall. The plans also indicate that the new court will be made of AstroTurf, bordered by copper beach hedge, and new oak trees proposed to be planted nearby.

A planning notice has been posted online for the public to submit comments by the end of July, reports the Express UK. The submitted planning application will then discussed by the council and a decision will be made in the coming months.

Anmer Hall, which was built in 1802, has a swimming pool and plans have also been submitted for a garden room and a pergola. Prince William and Princess Kate has already carried out extensive work for their Norfolk home which includes planting more trees for added security, fixing the driveway and windows, and replacing old tiles and the roof.
