Android 5.0 Lollipop
Android 5.0 releases SDK Google

Google's Android Lollipop or version 5.0 will start its global rollout on November 3 but the Motorola Nexus 6, one of the first devices to showcase the mobile operating system, may not reach its international audience until December of 2014, report said.

Post-Halloween debut for Lollipop

A new report from Android Police is indicating that Lollipop will officially pop out on the third day of November. The tech site based its information on a Google message that advised Android-focused developers to start publishing applications that are designed and optimised for Android 5.0.

In the same statement, the Internet search giant also announced that the public can start accessing Lollipop-dedicated apps on November 3, reminding the developers too that their products should be bugs-free before D-Day.

So between now and the first week of November, it should be extensive testing period for Android app authors if only to make sure of successful debut with Lollipop.

It should be noted, however, Android devices will not be chewing down 5.0 real fast as defragmentation still plagues Google's mobile OS. But key Android vendors have made claims that jumping to the new edition will only take around 90 days at the maximum.

First Android L devices

Fortunately for Nexus fans, the brand is always first in line to get the freshest Android that Google cooks up, which is the case of the Nexus 6 that its maker said will hit the store shelves in the first week of November. Pre-order will start on Google Play Store next week or October 29.

Sadly though, the Nexus 6 arrival appears limited only to North America as most markets, even the major destinations like Europe and Australia, will have to wait a few more weeks or months before getting hold of the toy.

In tweet by Paul O'Brien, it is hinted that Santa will not stuff in the socks of Nexus 6 until this year's Christmas month proper. This is the case for buyers planning to get the 5.9-inch Lollipop phablet in UK.

"Think you're getting a Nexus 6 in the U.K. before December? Think again!" the Android developer was reported by BGR as saying.

Given as chief reason for the late arrival is shipping delays, which is reminiscent of the Nexus 4 and 5, both assembled by LG, distribution fiasco. Recall that the last two Nexus phones took off with warm reception only to falter when supplies were hard to come by even during the Christmas seasons in 2012 and 2013.

Will history repeat and Nexus 6 will be afflicted anew by supply and distribution woes likes its earlier sibling did at the height of their release date moments?
