Google is known for using "names of sweets" in order to represent the major versions of the Android OS. Starting with Android 1.0 Alpha, Android 2.0 Beta, Android 1.5 Cupcake, Android 1.6 Donut to Android 4.4 KitKat and Android 5.0 Lollipop, the pattern has not been broken thus far, according to Phone Arena. An interesting point to note, however, is that the names of sweets have reportedly been in the alphabetical order. Therefore, this post includes the possible name of the upcoming major Android OS version, which is presumed to be the successor of the Android 5.0 Lollipop and a new concept video.

Based on Google’s history of naming convention, the upcoming Android 5.0 Lollipop successor should ideally start with the letter “M.” Therefore, “Muffin” is reportedly a possible option. Phone Arena points out that, the Muffin moniker apparently sounds widely-appreciated enough for Google to consider this option. On that note, the upcoming major version could be named as “Android 6.0 Muffin.”In the meantime, famous designer Miroslav Vitula has apparently come up with a brand new concept video showcasing the possible Android 6.0 Muffin features.

Going by the Android 6.0 Muffin concept video, the stand out aspects include a new Multi-Window and Quick Reply features. Speaking of Multi-Window, Samsung and LG device users must be aware of this incredible feature, as their UI overlays offer this aspect already. Technically, the Multi-Window option lets the device user to run multiple apps side-by-side, at a time. Therefore, it is not a surprise that Vitula has highlighted this particular feature in the upcoming Android 6.0 Muffin.

On the other hand, adding Multi-Window feature in the upcoming major OS version will make Android OEMs include multitasking option across Android devices. This feature will be more helpful especially when the devices sport larger displays and thereby, multiple apps can be comfortably run simultaneously and users might as well appreciate the new feature, Phone Arena writes.

Moving on to another key feature called Quick Reply, this feature will reportedly allow users to reply back to an incoming notification, directly from the notification that appears on the status bar. As far as the overall layout is concerned, the designer has apparently used Google's Material Design lavishly. Furthermore, the Android 5.0 Lollipop successor dubbed Android 6.0 Muffin is apparently showcased as an animation-rich version, notes Phone Arena.
