LG G Pad 8.3, Samsung Galaxy S4, Micromax Canvas A1, Spice Dream UNO and Karbonn Sparkle V are five smartphones added to the list of several devices running Android 5.0 Lollipop. Most of these devices are under Google Play Edition having the same privilege with Nexus devices.

Five Devices Under Google To Get Android 5.0 Lollipop

Since Google confirmed the official Android 5.0 Lollipop upgrade for Nexus and Google Play Edition devices, it is no mystery that some models from LG and Samsung will get the update sooner than expected.

Both LG G Pad 8.3 and Samsung Galaxy S4 have Google Play Edition variants made available via Google Play Store. These variants run the vanilla ROM of Android OS and treated as Nexus devices with privilege to receive exclusive software upgrades directly from Google.

Aside from Nexus and Google Play Edition devices, Android 5.0 Lollipop is also heading towards Android One models which include Micromax Canvas A1, Spice Dream UNO and Karbonn Sparkle V. These devices offer decent hardware and classified as mid-range but will be supported with constant software updates for up to two years.

Android 5.0 Lollipop Features And Perks

All of the devices mentioned above run the vanilla ROM of Android OS and only carry Google Play services. Updating to Android 5.0 Lollipop will make users feel the full effect of the following features and perks:

1. Sync and integration of songs, photos, apps and recent searches across multiple Android devices.

2. Material Design user interface across apps and animations.

3. Support for Android Wear devices including functionalities.

4. Improvements on the notification centre on both home and lock screens.

5. Project Volta will provide more accurate battery status including estimated charging time.

6. Android Smart Lock and user mode security implementations.

7. SELinux enforcing for all apps to increase protection against vulnerabilities and malware attacks.

8. New Quick Settings with additional shortcuts such as flashlight toggle.

9. Improvements on Internet connection.

10. More powerful Bluetooth low energy capabilities.

11. New Android Runtime to make apps run more efficiently.

12. Several upgrades to multimedia functionalities including audio and video.

13. OpenGL ES 3.1 for improved graphics rendition.

14. Support for Android TV

15. Additional 15 languages including Icelandic and Kannada.
