From the time Google introduced Android 5.0 Lollipop, a horde of both official and unofficial build versions have been making rounds on the Web, specific to Samsung handsets. Despite this, there was no update on the widely popular Samsung Galaxy Note 3, which reportedly still holds a great bunch of market share for the South Korean giant. Interestingly, the older models of the Samsung handsets received the latest update earlier than the Galaxy Note 3 from 2013. Nonetheless, a new leak points to a new Android 5.0 Lollipop beta build for the said device.

Earlier reports pointed out that a user from Vietnam received an official Android 5.0 update for his Exynos-powered Galaxy Note 3 with model number SM-N900 over-the-air, and that turned out to be a one-off case. But then, the incident corroborated speculations that Samsung is likely preparing the latest firmware rollout for the Note 3. As one would expect, the aforementioned one-off official version of the build has been leaked online, and it is now available for download for any Note 3 user that would like to give the beta build a try, says Phone Arena.

Readers who would like to try the Android 5.0 Lollipop beta build can head straight to XDA Developers Forum and follow the guidelines given on the site. It is worth reiterating that the firmware update pertains to SM-N900 version of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, and this firmware will work only on the Exynos processor. Hence, the Qualcomm Snapdragon-powered device owners may have to wait a little longer. As a word of caution, beta builds are bug-prone; therefore, the installed device might encounter problems.

On the other hand, the screenshots of the Exynos-powered Samsung Galaxy Note 3 running Android 5.0 Lollipop showcase a white menu background. Reportedly, white could be a bad choice for the Samsung device mainly because the white background could make the Super AMOLED display to exert more power than it would otherwise, points out GSM Arena. Since this is an early beta build, Samsung is believed to fix this performance problem in the final build.
