Amir Khan has said that a fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr. would be a bigger and better competition than the Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao. Khan, who is scheduled to step on the ring against Devon Alexander on Dec. 13, thinks that Mayweather there is nothing bigger than getting a shot at the American boxer's perfect record.

Mayweather often brags saying that 47 opponents have tried to beat him, but all have failed to do so. For Khan, becoming the first fighter to cause Mayweather his first-ever defeat is definitely going to attract a lot of attention, not to mention, bring fame to his name.

"If you beat Pacquiao, people are going to be like 'he got beaten in his last few fight anyway," Khan told The Independent. "Whereas if you beat Mayweather who's undefeated, I think that'd be a massive win," Khan added.

Khan no longer wants to play second fiddle to big names in the sport of boxing. Khan said that he is at the stage of his career wherein only huge bouts interest him.

Khan also shared his thoughts if he ever lands a fight with Pacquaio or Mayweather in the future. While a Pacquiao fight presents an aggressive and tiring one, a Mayweather clash is more strategic, Khan revealed. He said he needs to make the right punches at the right time if he wants to tarnish Mayweathers' unbeaten record.

Khan hasn't given up his hope of fighting Mayweather. He has been lined up to fight Mayweather in May, but the World Boxing Council, or WBC welterweight champion chose Argentine fighter Marcos Maidana, whom he defeated in December 2010, instead.

Meanwhile, Pacquiao has recently revealed to The Daily Telegraph that he is open to fighting Khan. Pacquiao said that he would be willing to have a showdown with the Bolton-born boxer anywhere, even in England.

Khan will be the headline act in Las Vegas on Dec. 13. He will defend his WBC Silver Welterweight title. It will be Khan's second fight in 2014. He previously fought and won over Luis Collazo in the undercards of Mayweather-Maidana fight in May.
