Hey everyone, the procedure went extremely well today! I'm sore and struggled getting up from the anesthesia but I pic.twitter.com/vLhpA6nTRU

The US Open quarterfinalist, Melanie Oudin was diagnosed with a heart condition last month called atrioventricular nodal re-entrant tachycardia (AVNRT), which required surgery. AVNRT is the most common type of tachycardia that is usually more common in females. The main symptom of the condition is palpitations which can be treated with medications, physical manoeuvres, synchronised cardioversion and radio ablation.

Last month, the tennis pro player revealed that she is suffering from a type of arrhythmia or irregular heartbeat that she has been experiencing occasionally, usually during or right after matches. The 23-year-old was convinced that she was experiencing some sort of an anxiety attack until she was diagnosed with the condition.

"It's been really frustrating," Oudin said according to a report on FOX Sports. "I played through matches having it, because I never really knew what it was. I would try to relax and take some deep breaths and let my body relax, and then I felt better." She further added that last year, her tests turned out normal.

Prior to the surgery, Oudin was pretty nervous and asked her Twitter followers to say a prayer for her. Apart from the heart condition, Oudin is also set to undergo another surgery for a growth in her eye later this month but she hopes to be able to continue her tennis career in a couple of weeks.

Just recently, the Atlanta native was ousted from Tennis Classic of Macon at Stratford Academy. Oudin, who is currently ranked 139th in the world, lost to Sanaz Marand in straight sets 6-4, 6-3.
