The American Music Awards (AMA) has kicked off at the Los Angeles and all eyes are on Miley Cyrus this year. The recently turned 21-year-old singer was dressed in an all white suit (yes! No vulgar dresses) this time as she walked the red carpet of the AMA. It was indeed a shock to see Miley dressed up so conservatively for an awards show.

Another surprise that the "Wrecking Ball" singer gave us was when she walked the red carpet along with her dad, country singer Billy Ray Cyrus. The father and daughter looked adorable together and got clicked a lot by the photographers. Miley was more than happy to see her dad at the AMA and hugged him as soon as they met. The duo shared warm chemistry and seemed to be chatting up together.

Miley was dressed in a suit at the 2012 Billboard Music Awards but she forgot to wear her pants that time! At AMA, Miley ensured to wear one! Maybe she was aware that her dad is going to be in the audience? Miley's makeup was subtle where she only highlighted her eyes with mascara and wore a barely there shade of nude lipstick! Her coat was helped by nothing but a safety pin and she wore nothing inside the coat. Well, she is being Miley, don't worry!

The AMA are hosted by Pitbull and K$sha. Rihanna will be honoured with the special AMA Icon Award for her iconic achievements in her career. Artist Macklemore & Ryan Lewis are leading contenders for this year's American Music Awards 2013 with six nominations. Country singer Taylor Swift and pop star Justin Timberlake follow next with five nominations each at the biggest awards of this year.

Florida Georgia Line, Rihanna, and Robin Thicke have each been nominated in four categories for the awards. Katy Perry, who is also expected to perform, arrived in a strapless black dress and looked gorgeous.

Miley Cyrus is expected to conclude the AMA and everyone is just waiting for the performance to happen. Though the singer is not nominated for any awards (her album was released in October when the nominations were already announced) she is going to perform at the ceremony. Whenever Miley has performed at awards ceremony, she has created news. In the August MTV Video Music Awards ceremony she shook the world with her twerking and dropped jaws with her tongue sticking out!
