Bollywood actress, Aishwarya Rai, was named as World's Most Beautiful Woman before. However, she was criticized for not losing weight fast enough after giving birth.

Amidst criticisms, the actress lived up to her title when she graced AmfAR Cinema Against Aids gala in Cannes last night. She donned a gold embroidered sari and matching tailored jacket with Mandarin collar. Her hair was piled back at the formed a messy bun adorned with a slender gold band. The actress put on a very light make-up.

Aishwarya Rai married Abhishek Bachchan, the son of one of Indian actor, and gave birth to their daughter last November. She found international fame after appearing in the Hollywood film, Bride and Prejudice. Prime actress, Julia Roberts, stated that she is the world's most beautiful woman.

A lot of fans went berserk telling the actress that she has a duty to be back on her pre-pregnancy figure after giving birth.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, on the other hand, remained cool and ranted back that she is not in the hurry to shed some weight as she is still enjoying motherhood.

Some supporters came to her defense and deliver messages that Aish is just another woman who would like to be a mother to her daughter and give her attention.

Bashers of Aish's weight gain are due to the impossibly high expectation put on to Indian actors and actresses.

According to cinema professor, Shohini Ghosh. who told the New York Daily News, "There is a glorification of motherhood in India and Indian cinema. But people are confused because they don't know whether to glorify Aishwarya in her new motherhood or lament that she is not looking like a runway model."

"She is held up as the ideal of beauty and so there is an expectation on her to look perfect at all times," the professor added.
