According to a report, this year's Primetime Emmys dropped 1 million viewers compared to last year's show.

With the hilarious skits, exciting nominees and Glee's Jane Lynch hosting the event, one would think that the 63rd Primetime Emmy's would be on the top of Sunday night's ratings. Unfortunately, FOX's presentation didn't do quite well compared to last year's Jimmy Fallon-hosted show aired on NBC. Last Sunday's show garnered 12.4 million viewers, a lot less than last year's 13.5 million.

The Emmys had to compete with NBC's Sunday Night Football match between the Atlanta Falcons and the Philadelphia Eagles. The NFL game collected a whopping 21.5 million viewers, almost 80 percent more than what the Emmys had. On the good side, the Emmys retained its power among young viewers, holding a tight 18-49 demographic, scoring 4.1 compared to last year's 4.2.

Last Sunday's Emmy's was filled with surprises, including a pseudo-beauty pageant skit from the nominees of the "Outstanding Female Lead Actress in a Comedy Series." Another highlight was "The Office" skit, where stars from different shows appeared on the series' office setting in their characters and personas (video below).

One show that dominated the night's win was "Modern Family," with 5 out of 5 wins including the coveted Outstanding Comedy Series claim. The show also received both the Outstanding Supporting Actor and Actress in a Comedy Series win for Julie Bowen and Ty Burrell. "Mad Men" took the Outstanding Drama Series, while "The Amazing Race" took the award for Outstanding Reality Series.
