Brand new Asus PadFone X Mini smartphone with a unique tablet docking station is debuting in AT&T. Apparently, this 4.5-inch handset can provide a 7-inch tablet-like experience through a docking station. This handset supports 4G LTE and will hit the store shelves on Oct. 24 at a price of $199.99 without a contract. Potential buyers can avail the PadFone X Mini via AT&T's GoPhone prepaid plans from AT&T stores on the aforementioned date. Additionally, the handset can also be purchased from national retailers in November.

The Asus PadFone X Mini handset's 4.5-inch display is complemented by 853 x 480 pixels screen resolution. The entry-level handset is powered by a dual-core Intel Atom Z2560 processor, clocked at 1.6 GHz. The device is backed by 1 GB of RAM and is equipped with 8 GB of internal storage capacity with microSD card for further expansion up to 64 GB, according to GSM Arena.

Moreover, the phone runs on Android 4.4 KitKat OS with Asus ZenUI on top of it. The handset sports a 5 MP rear-facing camera unit in addition to a 2MP front-facing snapper for selfies. The whole configuration is held together by a 2,060 mAh battery unit. Moving on to the tablet docking station, it comes with a 7-inch display bundled with a resolution of 1,280 x 800 pixels. This gadget is powered by a 2,200 mAh battery unit.

Additional features of the Asus PadFone X Mini include automatic charging that can give up to 28.3 hours of battery life when the handset is docked. However, when the handset is used in the smartphone mode, the battery can provide up to 15.8 hours of charge. Also, the Asus exclusive 5MP PixelMaster snapper unit captures high-quality images, according to Intel Newsroom.

The DynamicDisplay technology used by Asus helps resize the apps according to different display sizes. In PadFone X Mini's case, there are two modes: smartphone mode and tablet mode. Hence, the aforementioned technology will provide seamless integration between the devices. Moreover, the Asus ZenUI is packed with brand new features like What's Next and Do It Later. These features have the ability to assemble users' scheduled task and also allows followup of items. Lastly, the company's Side Flip Cover and TriCover for the phone and the docking station help prevent scratches and dents.
