It appears that one core feature that Apple is focusing in relation to its iPhone 7 release date plans this 2015 is a killer camera. This crucial smartphone function might just become real with the tech giant’s recent acquisition of advanced shooting technology.

According to Business Insider, Israeli firm LinX is the latest addition to Apple’s portfolio of companies and the purchase will only permit the tech giant to fortify its position as the leader in terms of smartphone camera. The same report cited a Wall Street Journal article as source.

With LinX on board, the next iPhone is a strong position to get ahead of the pack and easily beat any of its high-specced Android and Windows rivals in a camera showdown. Versus the iPhone 6 and 7 Plus, the iPhone 7 will have the following features that are absent from last year’s versions:

3D images

With the $20 million it paid for LinX, upcoming iPhone cameras will soon be capable of capturing images with three-dimensional effect. The rendering will be made possible with the use of more than one camera sensor in the next iPhone.

Two or more sensors in the rear iPhone shooter will permit the capture of pictures with enhanced depth of fields, leading to 3D-like renders of the images. Tweaks can performed as well such as blurring of the subject backdrop that will only intensify the 3-dimensional effect on a given image.

DSLR level

Also as a direct effect of the LinX buy, DSLR quality on smartphone could become a reality in the iPhone 7. Apple is said to mix LinX technology with an upcoming smartphone camera hardware called dual-lens, which rumours suggest will be manufactured by Sony of Japan.

This happening was actually discussed in late 2014 by known blogger and Apple watcher John Gruber. “I don’t even know what sense this makes … but I’ve heard that it’s some kind of weird two-lens system where the back camera uses two lenses and it somehow takes it up into DSLR quality imagery,” BGR quoted Gruber as saying.

Sexier iPhone camera

Yet perhaps the first upgrade to be noticed on the next iPhone camera is its sexier build. By using small but multiple sensors “Apple should be able to reduce the height of CCM,” in the next iPhone shooter. The same will eliminate the need for a single but large camera sensor.

The immediate benefit is on aesthetic. This means that in time for the iPhone 7, the protruding camera will be a thing of the past, allowing for a near-seamless build of the next-generation iPhone.

Well-known Apple insider Ming-chi Kuo made a bold claim recently that to add Force Touch sensor to its 2015 flagship, Apple will skip the expected iPhone 6S in favour of the iPhone 7 release date. The device’s estimated time of arrival is September at the earliest.
