Despite their being minors, 15-year-old Ariel Kornegay and 11-year-old Nicole were arrested by Columbia County Sheriff's Office on Monday after they shot to death their 16-year-old brother Damien.

The sisters used a handgun hidden in the locked bedroom of their parents who were away at the time the incident happened. Authorities have filed murder charges against the two siblings, reports Fox News.

Ariel, who pulled the trigger and was assisted by Nicole, said she killed Damien because he beat and locked her in her bedroom. It was Nicole who unlocked Ariel, who, in turn, got the gun.

After shooting Damien, they left their house in White Springs and went to Dollar General from where Nicole called the mother of a friend and told that she ran away from home. The friend's mother fetched her and found the two and also alerted the police.

Ariel's initial version was that their parents kicked them out, but she later admitted to the mother of Nicole's friend of the shooting.

The police found they have a 3-year-old sibling left at their home with the corpse of Damien. They took and brought the child to the Florida Department of Children and Families.

Their parents, Keith and Misty, were arrested and charged with child neglect for their failure to properly supervise their children. Keith, 37, is a truck driver. Misty, 33, went with him on a trip and left their four kids by themselves.

The parents and the two girls were scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.
