Surely top players Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer will be returning to Melbourne, Australia in 2015 for one of the most prestigious Grand Slam tennis tournaments in the world even as the total prize money for all the winners and participants of the next edition of the Australian Open will be increased according to its organisers.

No official breakdown of the prize pool has been released but various reports state that the champions for both the men’s and women’s singles will be receiving at least $3 million in the next tournament with the total prize pool increased to $36 million. (All figures in AUD)

2014 Aussie Open men’s singles champion, Stanislas Wawrinka of Switzerland and women’s singles champion, Li Na of China received $2.65 million each for winning the in their respective categories.

Each of Novak Djokovic of Serbia and Victoria Azarenka of Belarus had earned $2.3 million in 2012 and $2.43 million in 2013 for winning the Aussie Open titles in previous years. Djokovic won consecutive titles from 2011 to 2013 in addition to a triumph in 2008 while Azarenka won back-to-back crowns in 2012 and 2013.

Th new total prize pool is an increase by roughly 10% from 2014’s total of $33 million. It was at $26 million in 2012 and then at $30 million in 2013.

Organisers also launched the newly renovated Margaret Court Arena, the third covered court for the Australian Open after the popular Rod Laver Arena and the Hisense Arena.
