Zappacosta's Move To Atalanta Infuses More Money To Chelsea

Most football clubs are struggling financially, a reason why most have failed to land their prospective targets.

Ironically, Chelsea appears to be leaning in a different direction while managing to keep its campaign afloat.

The latest Chelsea player to move out of Stamford Bridge is Davide Zappacosta. The 29-year-old ended his spell with the Blues following an £8.5 million ($11.7 million) deal with the La Dea.

“Goodbye Chelsea FC what an amazing journey! One FA Cup, one UEFA Cup, wearing this color gives you a special emotion! Thank you for everything and best of luck for the future,” Zappacosta posted on his Twitter account.

This transfer allowed the Blues to jack up their summer transfer income to £100 million ($137 million).

Chelsea has negotiated with several clubs this transfer window but has so far managed to properly manage their finances during these hard times.

In all, Chelsea has managed to accrue over £65 million ($89.2 million) this summer. Prior to the Zappacosta deal, the Blues also shipped out Fikayo Tomori and Olivier Giroud to AC Milan.

However, the deal that netted the most for the Blues was the one involving Marc Guehi. The 21-year-old moved to Crystal Palace in July, a deal that infused £18 million ($24 million).

Tammy Abraham was also another notable departure, moving to AS Roma on a £34 million ($47 million) deal.

These transactions were added to the sale of several academy prospects as well, moves that have bode under the watch of team director Marina Granovskia.

Also, worth noting is that Chelsea managed to take in a player without spending much this transfer window. They acquired players like Emerson Palmieri, Kenedy and Michy Batshuayi on loan fees, estimated to be within the region of £1 million ($1.37 million).

Looking ahead, there are more players headed out. Kurt Zouma is one of them after the Blues verbally agreed with West Ham United on a reported £25.8million ($35.4 million) deal.

With a stacked roster, Thomas Tuchel is expected to continue making changes for the Blues moving forward.

As far as prized acquisitions are concerned, there is perhaps no one bigger than Romelo Lukaku, whom they signed for £97.5 million ($133.8 million).

Aside from Lukaku, it will be interesting who the Blues may consider adding to the fold next.
